LDS Fundamentalists/Schisms Corner

"Charles Thompson, Francis Gladden Bishop, G. J. Adams, and others arose, until prophets for a while were at a discount."

George A. Smith - (1858) Journal of Discourses 7:117

Since the restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, there have been those who have declared that the Lord's prophet and the members of his church have erred and fallen.  These individuals often claim that the Lord has called them to replace the prophet and that they have been chosen to renew the church in another place. Knowing that such men would attempt to lead his people astray, the Lord provided safeguards.  He told the Prophet Joseph Smith:

"Therefore, thou [Joseph Smith] art blessed from henceforth that bear the keys of the kingdom given unto you; which kingdom is coming forth for the last time.  Verily I say unto you, the keys of this kingdom shall never be taken from you, while thou art in the world, neither in the world to come; Nevertheless, through you shall the oracles be given to another, yea, even unto the church. (D&C 90: 2-4)

This corner exists to show that the Lord's Kingdom has not been given to another, nor ever will be.  The keys of the kingdom are and ever will be held by the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Quorum of Twelve Apostles, and First Quorum of Seventy.  Information provided here will refute the claims of those who say that the Lord has given them a special commission to redeem Israel and lead the elect of God out from among the Saints and the world.

We believe that most religious people pursue their religion because they deem it to be true.  Members of the churches discussed on this page are no exception.  Members of these groups are usually enthusiastic about their beliefs and church affiliation.  We believe that these people are misled and have erred regarding what is true.  We feel it is important to note the difference between the LDS Church and these other groups.  The purpose of the LDS Church is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not to organize attacks on other churches and publish pamphlets and books against them.  On the other hand, the very existence of many of these groups and churches is dependent solely upon their constant attacks on the LDS Church.  We ask all to consider which approach is the more Christ-like.

There are three fundamental issues that must be discussed when examining the foundation and beliefs of these groups and churches:

1. The "One Mighty and Strong"
2. Priesthood authority
3. Plural Marriage

An incorrect understanding of these issues provide the foundation for most of these groups.  We invite all to consider the evidence we will present and to return to the true fold, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
